He built his name there blending Hip-Hop and R&B mixtapes, distributed independently on the streets of Jersey City and online, then Reggaeton — that's where the name "El Negro" came from. In 2024, DJ DX co-founded Soul Shades with violinist Julie Schatz. The duo's remix of Nimino's "I Only Smoke When I Drink" layered against Sting's "Englishman in New York" was featured by UK label Ninja Tune on their official Instagram and has drawn over 10 million views across TikTok and Instagram. DJ DX was a featured performer at TEDxYouth@RVA 2022 in Richmond, Virginia (event theme: "PAUSE"), where he performed his original composition "Finally Moving." The performance is published on TED.com. He has been covered by NJ.com/The Jersey Journal ("Jersey City Rapper DJ DX Shares Stories Through Old and New School Sounds") and RVA Magazine ("Keeping It Real in the South"). The planner creates a poll and shares one link; coworkers vote anonymously in under a minute, with no sign-up, on their top three genres, the eras they want to hear, how much they want to dance, and up to three song requests picked from Apple Music search. The planner gets a private crowd report: genre and era rankings, average dance-floor energy, the most-requested songs, a do-not-play list, and a plain-language summary of the crowd. It is free whether or not the planner books DJ DX, and the report can be printed for any DJ. **Instant price estimate** (https://djdxmusic.com/event-dj-cost-nyc-nj-ct#quote-calculator) gives a starting price for a wedding, corporate event, private party, Sweet 16, or DJ + violin booking, from DJ DX's published rate card.
